Living Room
Abayomi CDC
Education That
Happens Inside
the Home
The Living Room is Abayomi CDC's intimate, invitation-only homeownership education series held inside real Detroit properties. Rather than a classroom or seminar, the home itself becomes the curriculum — guests move room by room through guided conversations with housing counselors, mortgage lenders, and real estate professionals.
Each event hosts 30–40 carefully selected participants: HUD-counseled buyers who are near mortgage-ready, Detroit renters actively planning their purchase, and community members building toward long-term ownership. The format is intentionally small because trust is the currency in this work — and small rooms build it faster than any seminar ever could.
Five Events.
Three Formats.
Room by Room,
Conversation by Conversation
Each room in the home holds a different conversation. Guests move through the property the way they'd move through a real decision — with expert guides at each stop. Listing agents serve as room facilitators, bringing authentic expertise to the space.

Nothing Else in Detroit
Looks Like This
An Intentional Audience
Every guest is invited — not dropped in from a general mailing. These are HUD-counseled buyers, near mortgage-ready renters, and serious wealth-builders. You won't find a more qualified 30-person room in Detroit.
Trust-Centered Design
The Living Room is small by design. Trust is harder to build at 200 people than at 30. Sponsors who show up in this room are associated with the most intimate, high-trust moment in a buyer's journey.
28 Years Behind It
Abayomi CDC has served Detroit families since 1998 — 2,900+ first-time buyers served, $2M+ in down payment assistance secured. The Living Room is a new format backed by an organization with deep community credibility.
CRA Credit Eligible
As a HUD-certified housing counseling agency, Abayomi CDC's programs qualify for Community Reinvestment Act credit. Financial institution sponsors can count this partnership toward CRA obligations.
