Rooted in Community. Powered by Purpose.
Welcome to Abayomi
-
Abayomi Community Development Corporation (CDC) is a Detroit-based nonprofit rooted in the belief that strong families are the foundation of thriving communities. Since 1998, we’ve built pathways to stability through housing, health, youth empowerment, and economic opportunity. As a trusted neighborhood anchor and HUD-certified housing agency, our work is grounded in cultural pride, community voice, and long-term impact.
We are committed to walking alongside individuals and families as they navigate housing insecurity, financial hardship, emotional healing, and the pursuit of opportunity. From our wellness workshops and youth sports leagues to our homebuyer education and small business support, everything we do is designed to help our community grow and thrive — together.
-
To strengthen socioeconomic conditions and improve the quality of life in Detroit and surrounding communities by providing culturally grounded services in housing, youth development, health and wellness, and economic empowerment.
-
We envision a vibrant Detroit where families are stable, youth are supported, and communities are equipped with the tools, knowledge, and power to define their own futures.
We aim to increase the level of dignity and personal achievement for all.

“At Abayomi, we believe healing happens in community. Whether it’s a parent finding stability through housing, a child discovering their strength on the basketball court, or a neighbor showing up for a wellness workshop — every moment is a reminder that we rise when we care for one another. This work isn’t just our mission — it’s our love in action.”
