Abayomi is a certified Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) counseling agency.  Our counseling program provides group and individual counseling on various topics that promote economic self sufficiency and empowerment.

Home Buyer Education

We can help you prepare for buying your first home.  Our certified counselors will educate you on the home buying proces, and help you prepare for the underwiting and lending requirements to successfully obtain home ownership.  Lender referrals are required for individuals that are in the closing process of home ownership.

Foreclosure Prevention

Our professional and certified counselors work with homeowners and lenders to renegotiate mortgages into more manageable rates, fees and terms.  Our services are free.  If you are in danger of losing your home, we encourage you to call us early in the foreclosure process.  We can help.

Financial Management/Economic Literacy

These educational classes help assist individuals in addressing financial problems or barriers to their life goals.  Our counselors are trained to help individuals develop budgets that allow timely payment of financial obligations.  We can also help eliminate outstanding debt or collection accounts by educating individuals about the credit repair process and advocating on their behalf with their creditors.

Pre-Purchase Credit Repair

If you are working to purchase your first home and are in need of credit repair, we can help you qualify for a MSHDA conventional mortgage.  We work with the credit bureau and collectors  in an attempt to remove any past delinquencies.
