Youth Talent Explosion is Searching for Detroit’s Next Star

DETROIT, MI, March 15, 2007— Northwest Detroit-based 501(c)3 Abayomi Community Development Corporation (ACDC) invites local poets, actors, musicians, singers, dancers and comedians ages 9-18, to audition for its 2007 annual Stars of Tomorrow Talent Explosion on Saturday, April 7th from 9am-5pm at the New St. Mark Family Life Center located at 24331 Eight Mile Rd. in Detroit.
Performers will vie for two $500.00 Grand Prizes, complimentary consultation with established entertainment attorney and top publicist and free studio time sponsored by United Sound Recording Studios. Stars of Tomorrow showcases talent in the artistic services of vocal, hip hop, musical instrument, drama, dance, comedy and spoken word.
“We know that Detroit has produced super-talents such as Eminem, Anita Baker, Kid Rock, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, D-12 and more,” said Stars of Tomorrow Chairperson Natalie King. “Stars of Tomorrow introduces the next generation of stars.”
The 2006 Stars of Tomorrow Talent Explosion featured Motown’s finest talent before a packed audience and panel of entertainment professionals and vets including; HBO Def Poet Jessica Care Moore, BET Comic View alumni and 105.9 KISS FM Shawnie D, entertainment publicist Treavion Davenport, jazz recording artist Lin Rountree, HOT 102.7 FM on-air personality Smiley and event MC Comedy Central comedian Horace B. Sanders.
There will be a non-refundable $35 registration fee for all competing acts. All proceeds from Stars of Tomorrow will benefit the youth-focused initiatives of ACDC, which has been providing programming to the far Northwest Detroit community for over nine years. ACDC, a faith-based, non-profit organization boasts its mission to strengthen and secure families and their neighbors through comprehensive community building.
