The honorees will be recognized for their tremendous support and contributions to the sustainability of the organization and Detroit youth, on Friday, December 8th from 6:30pm-8:30pm at the New St. Mark Family Life Center at 24331 West Eight Mile Road in Detroit.

Von Mike McGhee, Principal Advisor for Business and Civic Affairs, Executive Office of the Governor for southeast Michigan on behalf of Governor Jennifer M. Granholm.

Ficano and Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s office will also honor Abayomi’s 2006 Angel Alliance recipients. There will be an Award of Recognition from Detroit City Council member Monica Conyers. This event is open to the public.
“An angel is one who acts as a messenger, advocate, guardian, or champion, on behalf of others. Certainly this year’s Angel Alliance honorees embody the spirit of such a definition,” said Abayomi Development and Marketing Coordinator Trea Davenport.
“Without the magnanimous support of Abayomi’s constituents such as Mrs. Guyton, Mr. Reed and Mr. Thornton, our ability to aid those in need would be greatly diminished.”
ACDC, whose mission is to strengthen and secure families and the local community through comprehensive community building, boasts over eight years of dedicated work throughout metropolitan Detroit. The progressive non-profit’s annual programs serve over 5000 youth and families. ACDC’s initiatives range from helping youth participants overcome adolescent obesity to matching families’ savings dollar for dollar for the purpose of buying a home or starting a business.
The Touched by An Angel event marks the pinnacle of ACDC’s annual fundraising campaign for 2006. “At a time when traditional non-profit funding sources are being dramatically depleted, many vital programs and organizations are suffering and facing increased challenges in servicing their communities,” says Tawnya Morris, Abayomi President and CEO.
“ACDC is committed to continue making a positive impact on the world around us, and now more than ever we need to engage individuals in philanthropy and community contributions.”
While the 2006 Angel Alliance honorees are among many valued supporters of ACDC, the thriving organization is hopeful that the Touched by An Angel annual giving campaign finale might inspire the support of other businesses and neighboring citizens alike.
According to Abayomi Board Chairperson, Natalie King, “Once introduced to ACDC’s impeccable record of service and success, we are hopeful that other companies and private entities will generously contribute and/or provide resources needed for us to effectively implement and sustain programs that significantly impact the lives of countless at-risk youth and families.” Read the entire story at http://www.prweb.com/releases/2006/11/prweb482461.htm.
