Comerica Bank, Hawthorn Suites and Air Tran Airways Give Flight to Local Soaring Stars

May 28, 2006, DETROIT–Air Tran Airways, Comerica Bank and Hawthorne Suites joined forces with prominent local non-profit, Abayomi Community Development Corporation (“ACDC”) to give flight to soaring stars for the1st annual Stars of Tomorrow Talent Explosion that showcased talent in the artistic genres of vocal, rap, musical instrument, drama, dance, spoken word and comedy, at Detroit’s New St. Mark Family Life Center on Saturday, May 27th. Entertainers, ages 9-18, vied for two $500.00 grand prizes, free legal consultation with established entertainment attorney and studio time.

The Stars of Tomorrow Talent Explosion featured many of Motown’s most talented performers showcased before a packed audience and panel of entertainment professionals and vets including; HBO Def Poet Jessica Care Moore, BET Comic View alumni, 105.9 KISS FM radio personality Shanie D, entertainment publicist Trea Davenport, jazz recording artist Lin Rountree, HOT 102.7 FM on-air host, Smiley and Comedy Central and CBS network’s comedian Horace Sanders.

All proceeds of the Stars of Tomorrow Talent Explosion will benefit the youth-focused initiatives of ACDC, which has been providing progressive programming to the far Northwest Detroit community for over nine years. ACDC, a faith-based, 501(c) (3) organization, boasts as its mission to strengthen and secure families and their neighbors through comprehensive community building.
