Outcome 1
Career Planning – Youth will conduct a self-exploration survey to explore their interests and talents, learn how to write resumes and cover letters, learn about careers and salaries, how to choose a career, how to search for a job, how to interview for a job, how to effectively use online networking groups, and how to apply quality customer service.
Outcome 2
Leadership Development – Youth will learn various skills and traits of successful leaders such as communication, character building, problem solving, and critical thinking. Youth will work on small group projects to encourage communication, problem solving, and team work. Youth will also participate in community service projects, partnering with local businesses, government agencies or nonprofits. Citizenship training, group dynamics, and leadership games and activities will also be conducted.
Outcome 3
Money Management - Youth will learn the value of money, the concept of saving and investing, how to complete a budget, how to balance a check book, how to read and understand a credit report, and the benefits and dangers of credit card usage. This activity will help youth become more financially literate and budget conscious.
Outcome 4
Goal Setting – Youth will complete a goal setting assignment, learning how to identify short and long term goals, and will develop goals for school, academics, physical, mental, emotional, and community. This activity will help youth evaluate their decision making process and improve their decision making skills.
Outcome 5
Public Speaking - Youth will engage in debates regarding current events, will read aloud essay question responses and engage their audience in questions and answers, and will make presentations in teams and individually on various topics. This activity will help youth build confidence and will improve their communication skills.
